REM CUSTOMER ALERT – MIR REPORTING DELAYED
On February 17, 2010 CMS announced that it will delay Mandatory Insurer Reporting (MIR) until January 1, 2011. Until now, the MIR “Go Live” date was planned for April 1, 2010.
The reason for the delay is simple, only three Reporting Agents had successfully moved to production status with CMS as of 2/17/2010. All remaining Reporting Agents were still testing systems unsuccessfully.
We are proud to report that REM’s Reporting Agent, Gould & Lamb, is one of the of three companies that has successfully completed testing, and therefore we are very well prepared.
While the reporting timeline is delayed, the claims data that must be reported has not changed. This means that claims/settlements involving Medicare beneficiaries during this interim period will still need to comply with the Medicare Secondary Payer Statute (MSP) and will be reported to CMS on or after January 1, 2011 if they meet requirements.
For those customers who have not yet registered as RRE's, we encourage you to register as soon as possible so that we can continue to prepare your claims for reporting.
